GoodStill Pauses Operations to Reimagine Sustainable Fashion in Africa

Nairobi, Kenya – June 7, 2025 – GoodStill, a social enterprise dedicated to fostering textile reuse and combating waste in Africa, today announced the difficult decision to pause its current operations. The company closed its doors on June 7, 2025, as it embarks on a strategic re-evaluation of its business model to find more sustainable and impactful ways to achieve its mission.

GoodStill’s initial model focused on collecting high-quality, pre-loved clothing from individuals and making these garments available to women and youth aspiring to start second-hand clothing businesses. While this initiative successfully diverted textiles from landfills and aimed to empower budding entrepreneurs, the current operational framework proved to be unsustainable in the long term.

“This was not an easy decision, but a necessary one,” stated [Founder’s Name/GoodStill Spokesperson]. “Our core belief in the power of textile reuse for environmental good and economic empowerment remains unwavering. We’ve learned valuable lessons from our initial approach, and while we’re pausing this specific iteration, we are absolutely committed to finding a more robust and scalable solution.”

The closure marks a temporary halt, not an end, to GoodStill’s vision. The team is actively exploring new strategies and innovative approaches to continue tackling textile waste and promoting circular fashion within the African context. GoodStill remains dedicated to its goals of reducing environmental impact, supporting local economies, and championing conscious consumption.
